LAMBRUSCO GRASPAROSSA DI CASTELVETRO P.D.O. (Protected Designation of Origin) – AZ. AGR. BABBO ELIO

Description

In the works of classical writers such as Virgil and Cato reference is made to “Labrusca vitis”, a wild grave that produced sour fruit and grew on the edges of the countryside. Today, this centuries-old grave variety lives on in the Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro, a PDO-certified ruby red wine, which is noted for its intense violet hues and scents of ripe wild berries and which accompanies us throughout our meals with its persistent, fresh and enveloping body texture. We suggest you to complement it with traditional dishes to further appreciate the culinary tradition of the beautiful Emilian hilly landscapes, where this wine comes from. Combine it with cured meats as appetisers, then with first courses based on meat sauce and finally with dry pastries and jam tarts as desserts.

Design

The Last Maps artist duo returns to create the beautiful labels of the farm’s wines. The choice fell on two birds, both thriving in the Emilian territories and since the mid-1970s undisputed symbols of the Modenese nightlife: the red woodpecker (for Grasparossa) and the green woodpecker (for Pignoletto). They were depicted in a hyper-realistic manner, with a very thin and refined stroke known as “dot work”, while holding between their legs a grape, the precious element at the heart of our whole story.
